I've always loved to create. I remember being 4-years-old and drawing stick figures with those amazing little triangle skirts. I told my parents that I was going to set up a table to sell my artwork - and they encouraged me. I remember being 7-years-old and cutting out images from magazines and affixing them to carpet tape to make my own stickers to add to my sticker book. My mom thought it was great that she didn't have to buy me the stickers and I was proud of being thrifty. I remember being 13-years-old and writing poems about my recent break-up with my first love and starting a "band" with my bestfriend, even though I didn't know how to play an instrument. I remember being 19-years-old and making jewelry with my sister and painting flower pots to sell at the local market to raise money for university. When I was pregnant with my first son, Marcus, I relearned how to crochet and cross-stitch. When I was pregnant with my second son, Tyler, I started to scrapbook; creating beautiful keepsakes of our beautiful memories.
Then, one Christmas, I got an amazing present - my very first DSLR camera! When my daughter, Alyse, was born I took photos of her, and my sons, and anyone who would let me! Now, we have another daughter, Charlee, who we have been blessed through adoption - and I can now take photos of her. I love making memories with my family and I love capturing them to look back on for years to come!
Although, I still scrapbook, crochet, and draw stick-figure art, I have found my true creative outlet in photography.
